Cabbage and sunflower seeds in a SMOOTHIE!?!? Yes indeed! Dr. Joel Fuhrman says to get at least 8 servings of vegetables per day with 2 of those coming from cruciferous vegetables. Why!? Because cruciferous vegetables have shown to be twice as powerful than other vegetables at preventing cancer. A 20% increase intake of cruciferous vegetables means a 40% decrease risk of cancer. They are an anti-cancer solution.
Seeds are also known for disease prevention and reversal. They are high in monounsaturated fats and even higher in protein than nuts. Berries are also amazing because research has shown they have the power to repair damaged tissue and DNA and reduce the occurrence of many different cancers. The ellagic acid found in dark colored berries inhibits the formation of tumors. (Super Immunity by Joel Fuhrman, MD)
