This strawberry smoothie is super refreshing, delicious, and not too sweet. Yes fruit is high in carbohydrates (therefore sugars) but the benefits that come with them are nothing compared to drinking a soda or eating a candy. Fruit is a nutrient dense food and if you read my article on strawberries, you will see why and how it can help the body heal and prevent disease. I choose to eat as many whole foods as possible and use water instead of juice as the liquid of choice for my smoothies. When adding flaxseeds drink it soon after blending because the flaxseeds will congeal and thicken the smoothie. Adding almonds is something we naturally do to give it a boost in proteins, vitamins, and natural fats. Enjoy!
2 cups frozen or fresh strawberries
1 frozen banana, peeled
1/4 cup raw almonds
1/4 cup golden ground flaxseeds
1 fresh orange, peeled

Blend on high until it liquefies!
